Recently, the paper of Magnetically and Electrically-Controllable Functional Liquid Metal Droplets, written by the team of Professor Sun Lining from the Soochow University Robotics and Microsystems Center of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering was awarded the Best of Advanced Materials Technologies 2019 by Advanced Materials Technologies, Wiley鈥檚 famous academic journal. Li Fangxia, master student of the Robotics Center of the School of Mechatronics, and Associate Professor Kuang Shaolong are the co-first authors of the paper. Associate Professor Li Xiangpeng of the Robotics and Microsystems Center, Dr. Shi-Yang Tang of the University of Wollongong, Australia, and Professor Zhang Shiwu of the University of Science and Technology of China for the joint communication of the paper author. This research was completed with the support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
In recent years, the Robot and Microsystem Center of Soochow University led by Professor Sun Lining has made a series of progress in the research of liquid metal robots, several important results have been published in top journals Advanced Materials (2018, 35(51),1805039), IEEE Trans. on Industrial Informatics (2018, 15(5), 2535-2543), IEEE/ASME Trans. on Mechatronics (2020, 25(2), 942-950), Applied Materials Today (2020, 19, 100597), ACS Applied Materials & Interface (2020, 12(9), 11163-11170), Soft Matter (2018,14,7113-7118). Relevant research achievements have obtained a huge social impact, and have been repeatedly mainstreamed by special media reports at home and abroad, such as China CCTV, Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, Science and Technology Daily, Guangming Daily, New Scientist, Russia Today, South China Morning Post, etc.
